Mushroom Pincushion

A cute little mushroom pincushion! It could go well with a fairy or forest theme or even maybe... Mario anyone?

This pincushion pattern is by verybigjen over at Flickr. She has a few other free How To tutorials on her account as well, I recommend you check them out! I may be posting up a few more of them in future.

They don't look too difficult to make, it should only take a short while as the pincushion is pretty simple. Just because it is simple, doesn't mean it isn't good. The resulting mushroom look is rather cute!

Lots of pictures with this tutorial! It is Flickr, after all.

Heart Pincushion with tie

Over at Fat Quarter Shop they have a nice heart pincushion pattern available.

Don't let the word shop worry you, this pattern is available for free!

This pattern is mostly a little step by step you can look through to see what you need to do. You can also download the pdf pattern to print out and keep by your side as you work through it.

The pattern mentions using some quilting techniques to decorate your pincushion, but you could easily skip that part if you already have a nice fabric you like plain.

Otherwise, just decorate however you want!

Cupcake and Teacup Pincushions

Over at RedrinArt, there's a tutorial that shows you how to made some tiny cupcake pincushions.

You can also turn them into little teacup pincushions with a little alteration (adding a handle), which is a cute idea!

These are pretty easy to make and, as I said, they are tiny. You can easily make these with your left over scraps.

Nothing stopping you from making a slightly larger one, though. Ether way, they look like they would be great gift ideas!

Mouse Pincushion

These adorable little mice pincushions were made by Lucy from My Byrd House.

You just need a 6 inch square of fabric, some felt scraps, yarn, stuffing, and some black purl cotton for these pincushions!

This tutorial was made for the year of the mouse in 2008. Although the next year of the mouse isn't until 2020 (and then 2032), you can still enjoy this little cute critter of a pincushion now.

Hanging Square Pincushion

Kristen Roach from Craft Leftovers created a nifty little square pincushion you can hang up at your workspace.

In hers she even has a great idea to put some lavender in it so that when you put a pin in you get a nice smell! Of course, you could also put in whatever other nice smelling herb you fancy.

This one is really good if you don't have a lot of table space, or you seem to loose your pincushion all the time!

The pattern is in a downloadable .pdf and has a little tutorial with it.

Cupcake Pincushions!

These cupcake pincushions are super cute, and you can learn to make them both! Care from Obsessively Stitching has made the tutorials available both the small and large versions for free. The small cupcake pincushion can even be put on a ring!

To be honest the larger version of the cupcake pincushion isn't exactly large, I would say it's more realistically sized than the small one. It could end up the size of a cupcake or a muffin, depending on the cup you use.

You'll find the larger style over at the Dollar Store Crafts website, where she did a guest post. The small version is available through her blog.

Similar to the pincushion ring, is a pincushion for your wrist! Very practical, but Nancy Lee over at Heaven is Handmade has made it cute too.

In this free tutorial, Nancy has shown us how to put together a wrist pincushion in the shape of a very cute flower. I imagine you could fiddle with the pattern and personalize it in any way you wanted!
